Things I’m loving lately:

Golden hour portraits. Still my favourite 20 minutes of the whole day, and I’ll always try to fit it into your timeline.

Wand parades. This is something I recently learned about! Everyone gets to be part of the exit, there’s nothing to clean up, and they work at venues that don’t allow confetti or petals.

Donut walls. No notes.

Working alongside other photographers. Weddings can be more fun with a friend on the other side of the aisle.

Having your dog in the ceremony. If they’re family, they belong there. Just line up someone to take them home or look after them once the ceremony’s done (I know some great dog nannys!).

Putting together end-of-season boxes for my couples. I’m a gift giver at heart so I always enjoy creating a little something for my couples after their full gallery delivery.

It rained all morning in Jasper, but Alex was set on having her ceremony outside (and I totally agreed). We gathered all the umbrellas from the Lodge, and everyone was set. Then she started down the aisle and within minutes, the rain stopped and they got to throw their umbrellas to the side!

I`ve been with A&J since their proposal at the board game cafe, then their amazing engagement session with Tiggy & Pippin (their fur babies), and now their wedding in one of my favourite places - Jasper. A small celebration surrounded by the people who matter most to them.

Somewhere along the way, you two stopped feeling like clients and started feeling like friends - thank you for bringing me along for all of it ♡

A lot of my couples aren`t big-crowd people. They don`t want 150 people watching them, they want to freely enjoy the day and have fun!

Big weddings can go by in a blur of handshakes and hellos. 30-50 guests changes that. You get a real conversation with everyone in the room, you eat your dinner while it`s still hot, and you`re not performing for a room. You`re just getting married in front of people you feel the most comfortable with.

Swipe through for what a micro wedding usually includes and whether it`s the right fit

Save this one for later! 🤍

Most wedding checklists are written by people who`ve never stood in a field during a July ceremony in Alberta. Bug spray isn`t on them. Neither are umbrellas (matching ones for the audience perhaps?), or something warm for after sunset when it drops ten degrees in an hour.

This one comes from experience with actual weddings I`ve photographed. A little prep goes a long way in making sure you and your guests are comfortable all day long!

If you`ve been meaning to book fall photos, this is the week to pick your date and do it!

Every year someone messages me in mid-October asking about golden trees, and I have to tell them we missed it. The window here is genuinely about four weeks (hopefully a tad longer with all the rain), and I saw the first trees turning yellow this week.

An evening sunset, somewhere with good trees and some cozy sweaters is the vibe.

A few September and early October dates left - contact form in my bio! 🍂

Your wedding day doesn’t have to follow tradition 🤍

Some of my favourite weddings are the ones that break from the expected and make room for what feels right for the couple. Whether that means getting ready together, skipping the bridal party, writing private vows, or choosing a dessert that isn’t a traditional wedding cake, there are so many ways to make the day your own.

There’s no rulebook for how your wedding has to look, and that’s the fun part!
